Moving like the Beckhams, on reality TV

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Victoria Beckham is reportedly to be the star of a new TV reality show chronicling her and footballer husband David's move to Los Angeles.

Hollywood's industry bible, Variety, said that after weeks of negotiations the US channel NBC had "closed a very rich deal for six episodes of a half-hour unscripted comedic series" focusing on Victoria Beckham's move to LA.

"Each episode will focus on Beckham's transition to Los Angeles," Variety said, adding the show "will explore how one of the most famous women in the world uproots the machinery surrounding her -- publicist, stylist, personal assistant, etc. -- and brings it across the pond."

Cameras will follow the former Spice Girl as she hunts for a new home for her, her husband and three young sons, or as she shops for a new car. Some of her famous Hollywood friends could even make an appearance, Variety said.

Beckham said she was excited about the project, particularly the chance to work again with producer Simon Fuller, who also brought the United States the pop-star show "American Idol."

"This show is really something different. It's pushing the boundaries, and I think it's going to surprise a lot of people," 32-year-old Beckham told the magazine.

In January her 31-year-old husband signed a five-year, 250-million-dollar contract with the Galaxy and is set to leave his current team, Spanish side Real Madrid, from July.

The show could start airing in the summer.

"It's a bit of a flyer, but if they hit it right, there's a built-in machine" to promote the show, one TV industry insider told Variety.

Meanwhile in an interview published Wednesday, Beckham, known as Posh Spice, insisted she was more of a homebody than British tabloids like to believe.

"I'm usually with David and the boys ... I have three children, I work hard and when I'm not working I'm at home with the kids," she told The Mirror.

"The children aren't spoiled. We live a relatively simple life at home."

She added: "Am I going to start going to clubs with Britney Spears every night? Possibly not."

VICTORIA Beckham is scared over security – after being chased out of one of LA’s poshest schools by a Vietnamese porker.

The pot-bellied classroom pet sent her squealing during a tour of the £11,000-a-term upper-crust private college in leafy suburb Sherman Oaks.

A close pal of Posh, who is back in Madrid for son Brooklyn’s 8th birthday today, revealed she is now desperate to beef up safety arrangements.

The 32-year-old former Spice Girl has already been interviewing minders after her own bodyguards in England were refused US work permits.

And her friend added: “If a pig can send her diving for safety, with nobody to protect her, what could happen if a person tried to get to her? She has instructed a VIP security agency to send her more applicants immediately.”

A teacher who witnessed the encounter revealed: “She was petrified of our harmless little pig and ran away when she saw him.

“But as soon as the pig heard her click-clacking off in her high heels he must have thought it was a huge game and gave chase.

“The kids were hooting with laughter at the sight of Mrs Beckham being pursued by little Horatio, who is a much-loved school mascot.”

Posh had been visiting the trendy school – attended by the sons and daughters of scores of Hollywood celebs – with a view to enrolling her two oldest boys there this summer.

But she was totally hogged-off when she encountered Horatio trotting around a science class.

The teacher said: “As soon as she clapped eyes on him, she shrieked, ‘What’s that?’ The deputy head tried to explain that Horatio is perfectly harmless and, in fact, rather cuddly.

“But she cut him short and said, ‘Get it away from me, it’s horrible!’ But that roused Horatio’s interest, because he loves people and is incredibly friendly.

“So he started to walk closer to her – and the next thing we knew she took flight. It must have been difficult for her to run as she was wearing very high heels and a tight skirt.

“Horatio thought it was all a great hoot and galloped after her, oinking with
pleasure.”

Two plucky ten-year-olds galloped after Posh and the runaway pig – and managed to catch Horatio with his snout just inches away from his petrified “playmate”.

Victoria, who is looking for a school for Brooklyn and Romeo, four, cut short her trip.

A spokesman said: “She still has the requisite forms for her sons but she seemed rather angry.”

But that is highly unlikely, according to a source close to Posh, who said last night: “She now seems to favour a very nice Catholic school in Bel Air.”

Posh isn’t faring well on the house-hunting front, either.

Pals say she’s been bitterly disappoin-ted with the mansions she has viewed and believes greedy estate agents are ramping up their prices by as much as $2million.
